Here you’ll find some prototypes I’ve thrown together in GameMaker: Studio to test the waters. Don’t expect a Mass Effect trilogy anytime soon, but feel free to play them if you like. Most, if not all, will have their source included but note that none of these games are licensed for commercial use and must be attributed if shared; see Creative Commons licensing info at the bottom of this page for more information.
This is the first game I’ve ever developed from beginning to end, though it’s far from complete. It has a basic menu, pause screen, health system, and basic enemy AI. There are still some collision bugs, as well as a lacking “Lives” system. Though I originally had built it in, I couldn’t get it working within the self-imposed timeline so I had to write it out. Credit where credit is due: I cobbled together basic jumping physics, AI, and attacking methodology from two YouTube channels: Shaun Spalding and HeartBeast (also known as Benjamin). I would heartily recommend both of these guys as they are in-depth, extremely helpful, and easy to follow.
